I posted this on my main blog - Delaney's World - and I figured I would share it here as well.
Yes I did!
There is a tattoo shop in Andover, KS where my son lives that is a two man operation. King Pete’s is owned by Pete, the only non tattooed tattoo artist I have ever met and a young guy named Nolan who has been tattooing for about three years now.
Nolan tattooed my husband a couple of years ago and seemed very likeable and talented so when I decided I had a couple of tattoos I really wanted done I went to see him.
I have a tattoo already on my left wrist that is about my daughter and you can see it in the pictures of me knitting. I have always wanted a dream catcher on my other arm that is a representation of my Native American heritage and my son who is sort of my dream catcher in life. He is always there for me when I need him. He supports me in anything I do and I love him to death. He is my only son and my baby.
Here is my new tattoo:
Hubby doesn’t see the “J” for our son’s name nor does he see the heart – do you?
If you don’t, here is where to look:
and the heart:
I think that Nolan did a great job and got exactly what I wanted. Now it is still healing up so it still looks a bit rough. I have to admit that Nolan is one of the gentlest tattoo artists I have had so far. Not a bad experience at all and I could hardly feel him working which is high praise in my book. Being artistic as well as having a gentle touch with the needles makes me want to come back and I plan on it the first of October. Yes, I am getting another tattoo done after Jamaica and it will be another bigger one on the other side of my shoulder/back to balance out me Geisha. I look forward to seeing what Nolan comes up with for the different styles I showed him that I love. Should be interesting and I look forward to my next tattoo.

Black and Grey Tattoos
There are lots of things to take into consideration and preparation of getting your tattoo, especially your first. Besides figuring out what, where and what size you want your tattoo to be you also have to decide whether you want color or just black and grey.
Tattoo enthusiasts can be pretty divided on this issue while some of us like both. Sometimes it is strictly personal choice, sometimes it depends on what the tattoo really needs or the location of the tattoo.
If you have a color tattoo on your foot, you will more than likely have to have it touched up quicker than if you have a black and grey one. Some designs just look better in color while others should be black and grey
As you can see, black and grey tattoos are great and can change the whole way a tattoo can look. It is up to you to decide if you want color or to go more traditional and stick with black and grey.
Whatever you chose make sure you have a good if not great tattoo artist do your ink for the best results.
Happy Tattooing!

Portrait Tattoos
Sorry that I haven't posted anything new in awhile, I just haven't seen a lot of pics that I wanted to share and I didn't want to do something half heartedly.
Portrait tattoos are very tricky. You have to make sure that the tattoo artist you choose to do your tattoo can actually do portraits. If they do not have some samples of their portrait work, walk away. Bad tattoos aren't something you want but you really don't want a bad portrait tattoo especially if it is a pretty good sized tattoo because it would be nearly impossible to cover up or fix.
Portrait tattoos are a good way to memorialize someone you love and may have lost but be prepared to pay more for this type of tattoo. The artist has to draw it up from the pictures you bring with you so make sure you use good ones.
The first one is not completely finished but I wanted to show how the details matter. The most striking feature to me is her eyes. Fantastic work.
This one shows that you can have a stunning tattoo and it only be a specific feature. This is this lady's daughter's eyes.
As you can see by these photos, portrait tattoos can be done in either black/gray inks or in color and look amazing either way. You have to decide which way you want it and if the tattoo artist is comfortable in that medium.
Portrait tattoos can be awesome when done by a talented tattoo artist.
